The Sta. Maria children’s park has been refurbished and improved and is now open to the public anew.

Mayor Beng Climaco together with officials from the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), the contractor and the Sta. Maria barangay officials spearheaded the inauguration and reopening of the park Friday afternoon, over a year after it was closed for renovation.

Costing P8.3 million, the project was undertaken by the Everlast Construction Company under the supervision of the CEO. The project started October 2015.

Mayor Climaco said the project is a gift for the children of Zamboanga and forms part of the Development of Parks component. “Este amo para el beneficio de los niños y niñas!”

Originally the project was a congressional initiative and implemented during Mayor Climaco’s first term in Congress.

Also present during the inauguration of the project were Sta. Maria Police Station Chief PCI Rolly Joaquinio, CEO personnel, Sta. Maria barangay officials led by Chairperson Eli Angeles, representatives from Everlast Construction and numerous others.

Angeles expressed gratitude that facelifting of the facility is done allowing children of Sta. Maria and other parts of the city to enjoy the amenities.  (Sheila Covarrubias)
