Efforts are underway to explore additional potable water sources to meet the growing water demand in the city.
This, as the Zamboanga City Water District with the support of the city government on Saturday, August 31 spearheaded the groundbreaking of the proposed well exploration project at barangay Zambowood.
The activity was graced by Majority Leader and District II Congressman Mannix Dalipe, Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja, Councilor Jerome Santos, ZCWD officials, Zambowood barangay officials led by chairperson Richard Pajarito.
The proposed project is expected to serve 1,000 households in the community, producing one million liters per day (MLD) at maximum within barangay Zambowood.
According to the ZCWD, the well exploration project aims to assess the feasibility of drilling and developing a new groundwater potable source in a specific geographical location. The project shall involve intensive and comprehensive drilling activity and evaluation of the subsurface geology and production potential to determine the viability of the proposed well. The project shall likewise consider the necessary infrastructure, logistics, and regulatory requirements for the successful well development and production.
