Police authorities confiscated assorted firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in line with the strict enforcement of Ordinance 569 or the Firecracker Law during the holidays leading to the New Year’s Eve revelry.

Among those confiscated were kwitis, sparklers, silver fountains, five-star triangle, toy cap guns, cosmos ring caps, seven colors, three star, watusi, trompillo, luces, sputnik and airwolf among others –all amounting to P45,650.

The confiscated items recorded were based on data submitted by the different police stations and operating units under the Zamboanga City Police Office as of 8am, January 2, 2023.

No cases of stray bullets were recorded.

Mayor John Dalipe has directed police authorities to fully enforce Ordinance 596. Days prior to the new year, the mayor, also called on the public to abide by the provisions of the ordinance as part of the health and safety measures.
