Land appraisal work for new airport in Mercedes begins

Mayor Beng Climaco and the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) kicked off the beginning of appraisal activities for the New Zamboanga International Airport Development Project (NZIADP), as they led the groundbreaking ceremonies Wednesday.

Climaco on Wednesday morning welcomed assessors from Land Bank of the Philippines at the proposed airport site in Mercedes to mark the start of land value assessment activities on parcels affected by the NZIADP.

Raquel M. Cananea of LBP committed the completion of the appraisal activities in twenty (20) working days to meet the desire of the Mayor for the acquisition of land parcels before June 20, 2022. The appraisal report from the independent appraisal party shall be the basis for the negotiation and acquisition of affected properties in Mercedes and adjacent barangays.

Present at the ceremonial groundbreaking were Engr. Alberto J. Adorable, Engr. Raymond A. Despalo and Cheryl Therese A. Perez of LBP, EnP Ma. Luz V. Agbayani and EnP Jessie Christopher B. Lapinid of the CPDO, Mr. Rodrigo Pagotaisidro of HLMD, Mr. Erwin Bernardo of the CAss, and other personnel from the City Government. The New Zamboanga International Airport is a priority project of the national government under President Rodrigo Duterte in partnership with the Climaco Administration under Mayor Beng Climaco, who together with the various stakeholders in the City, have strongly pushed for the fruition of this project.
