The National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) brings the National Arts Month (NAM) celebration to Zamboanga City with parallel workshops on literary, architecture and allied arts, visual arts and cinema, March 7 to 9.
For March 8, highlighted activities were the Saan Ka Lulugar (SKL) 2024: Resiliency in the Built and Designed Environment organized by the National Committee on Architecture and Allied Arts (NCAAA) at the Grand Astoria Hotel; Film Showing by the Committee on Cinema (NCC) at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University AVR Room; Seminar and Workshop by the Committee on Visual Arts (NCVA) at the WMSU covered court and the Surat- Tanghal Reading the Regions 2024 Program and Exhibits of Mindanao Writing organized by the Committee on Literary Arts (NCLA) at the Multi-purpose hall, ADZU FWS building.
Mayor John Dalipe graced the different activities as he thanked the NCCA for including Zamboanga City in the list of NAM sites and showcasing the city’s rich and colorful history and culture.
The activities are organized by the NCCA committees in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga.
The NCCA kicked off NAM 2024 last February 28 at the National Capital Region, by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 683 issued in 1981 to honor the artistic excellence and to acclaim the uniqueness and diversity of Filipino heritage and culture.
NAM activities are spread out in selected areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, with Zamboanga City chosen as one of the only 2 sites in Mindanao, where parallel workshops on literary, architecture and allied arts, visual arts and cinema are featured. (Sheila Covarrubias)
