Nostalgia Zamboanga: Reminiscing the Yesteryears of Zamboanga City

What is tourism? Is it merely going somewhere, taking photos, and checking it off of your bucket list? No, traveling is so much more than a snapshot in your memories. Real tourism is all about immersing yourself in new cultures, exposure to different ideologies, and fostering a sense of global community.
In line with the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Department of Tourism – Zamboanga Peninsula Office, the City Government of Zamboanga hosted the “Nostalgia Zamboanga: Reminiscing the Yesteryears of Zamboanga City,” testimonial dinner in order to express gratitude and to award the pioneers of the tourism industry for laying on the foundation of a strong industry that fosters economic growth and supports local communities.
With careful consideration the City Government of Zamboanga and the Department of Tourism Region 9 awarded the following for their outstanding contribution as pioneers of the tourism industry;
Lourdes Macasantos: for her invaluable contributions as one of the Pioneer Tour Guides in Zamboanga City.
Ricardo San Juan: for his invaluable contribution to the development of the Tourism Industry in Zamboanga City during his term as the Regional Director of DOT 9 for 29 years.
Milabel Richter: for her invaluable contribution as one of the Pioneer Tour Guides in Zamboanga City.
Antonio M. Blanco: for his invaluable contribution to the improvement of the Zamboanga Golf Course and Beach Park during his term as Resident Manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority now known as TIEZA.
Royal Achievers Travel Service Incorporated: as one of the pioneers in handling Ticket Sales and Inbound Tours in Zamboanga City.
Daniel Diones: as one of the first Local Tourist Transport Provider in Zamboanga City.
National Museum Western-Southern Mindanao Regional Museum (Zambonga): for being a Cultural Treasure and one of the original tour sites of Zamboanga City.
Barangay Maasin: as the first Country Side Tour Destination in Zamboanga City.
