In honor of the late mayor, four outstanding women were awarded by the City government of Zamboanga headed by Mayor John M. Dalipe ,Rotary East President Rj Miranda and former Mayor and Congressman Hon. Celso L. Lobregat for their outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields.
Miss Angelita Pichay Ilul of Angie’s Yakan Handloom Weaving was awarded with the Zamboangueña Excelente award on Businesswoman of Excellence for her ingenuity during the pandemic.

When almost every business is struggling, she managed to continue production, enabling her employed weavers to maintain their means of living. Our awardee creatively thought of making Yakan woven cloth masks because the prices of clinical face masks increased significantly. Though her face masks are more expensive compared to the regular washable face masks sold in the market, people still patronize her product because of its quality and it makes them fashionable while keeping them protected.

Miss Saudia Sadjail Danih was awarded
with the Zamboangueña Excelente-Mentor of Excellence for her efforts in Youth Empowerment. She is the Executive Director and one of the founders of Center for Youth Development Initiatives Inc., an organization that focuses on Youth Empowerment. She is a strong environmentalist who has trained not only the youth sector but marginalized women as well in venturing into environmental-friendly products.
