The City Government Thursday announced the passing of City Planning and Development Coordinator Engr. Rodrigo S. Sicat at 11pm, March 29, due to a lingering illness.

He was 56.

“With profound sadness, the City Government announces the passing of Engr. Rodrigo S. Sicat, City Planning and Development Coordinator at 11pm, March 29 due to a lingering illness,” the advisory in the City Government facebook page said. “The City Government expresses deepest condolences to the family and may God grant you comfort in your hour of bereavement. Rezos para tu descanso en paz, Engr. Sicat.”

Fondly called “Jojo”, Engr. Sicat was a passionate and dedicated City Government worker who scrutinized each and every document that passed through his table for his imprimatur.

Engr. Sicat’s public service record began on June 6, 1991 when he was hired as Economic Development Specialist by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office-9. He was promoted to Senior Economic Development Specialist in 1995.

From NEDA, he transferred to the City Government of Zamboanga on March 16, 2008, as Assistant Department Head of the City Planning and Development Coordinator (CPDO), a position he occupied until June 1, 2012 when he was promoted to Department Head. Engr. Sicat’s remains lie in state at Chapel E, 2nd floor, La Merced Funeral Homes in Gov. Alvarez St. (Sheila Covarrubias)
