CHO innovates strategies to boost vaccination

The local government continues to innovate tactics such as drive-thru, house-to-house and drop-in clinics to boost vaccination numbers and achieve herd immunity against COVID-19 in Zamboanga City.

The City Health Office (CHO) has deployed a mobile vaccination team (MVT) to conduct inoculation activities in several establishments and commercial vessels to vaccinate eligible workers who are otherwise unable to avail of the jabs due to work.

Just last week, the MVT vaccinated a total of 143 workers from Big Fish Corporation and Nancy Fishing Corporation. Drop-in clinics were also held on three commercial vessels to administer first, second and booster doses, as required.

Several CHO vaccination teams were similarly sent out earlier this month to conduct house-t0-house vaccinations to ensure those living in remote areas access to the vaccine.

As of March 23, Zamboanga City is 89% fully vaccinated with a total of 1,288,360 doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered.

Of the total number, 649,058 are first dose while 639,302 are second dose.  Out of the fully vaccinated individuals, 104,765 have received their booster shot. (Claudine Uniana)
