February 26 a special holiday in ZC

Malacañang has declared Friday, February 26 as a special non-working day in Zamboanga City in line with the celebration of 84th Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga.
 
This is pursuant to Proclamation 1103 issued February 23, 2021 and signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea by the authority of President Duterte.
 
The declaration is intended to give the people of Zamboanga the “full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing and other public health measures.”
 
The Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga is an annual observance that celebrates the city’s charter anniversary marked by the installation of the first set of appointed city officials led by Mayor Nicasio Valderosa on February 26, 1937.
 
The City Government has lined up a number of activities in celebration of the Dia de Zamboanga that kicked off during the weekend. These included the opening of the Centennial Treasures of Zamboanga exhibit at the KCC Mall, the Photography Competition with an exibit at SM Mindpro and the Horticultural Festival dubbed SIEMBRA also at SM unveiled Monday, Feb. 22.
 
A jobs fair was held Feb. 24 at the KCC Mall. Awarding ceremonies for the different competition will be held on Feb. 26, the Dia de Zamboanga, during which we will also inaugurate the refurbished R.T. Lim Boulevard and the Centennial Marker of the First “Moro” Scouts as well as the I Love ZC signages.
