ZCPO, LGU kick off 3-day anti-drug abuse training for barangays

The City Police Office in collaboration with the City Government Tuesday, August 27, kicks off a 3-day Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) Training in line with the ultimate goal of making Zamboanga a drug-free city.

The training will run until Thursday, August 29 that will cater to 3 batches of officials from the 98 barangays. It is intended to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively conduct drug-clearing operations within their communities.

Key topics include the current Drug Situation of Zamboanga City, BADAC Organization and Functions, and how to conduct a BADAC Functionality Audit, Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program, Recovery and Wellness Program House Visitation, critical guidelines from OCA CIRCULAR NO. 340-2023 concerning BADAC Rehabilitation Programs of the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center as well as the necessary documentary requirements.

Participants during the first day of the training held at the Grand Astoria Hotel included Vitali, Manguso, Tigbalabag, Tictapul, Tumitus, Limaong, Licomo, Sibulao, Tagasilay, Taguiti, Curuan, Latuan, Calabasa, Quiniput, Dita, Buenavista, Panubigan, and various others.

Facilitating the training were OIC Police City Director PCOL Kimberly Molitas, PLTCOL Paul Andrew Cortes, DILG City Director Gina-gene Vaño Uy and PDEA-ZC City Officer Sharon Ominga.

This initiative marks a significant effort in reinforcing the capacity of local leaders to combat drug-related issues at the grassroots level, reflecting the city’s commitment to a comprehensive and community-driven approach in its anti-drug campaign.
