The Philippines, represented by Zamboanga Chong Hua High School (ZCHHS) students bagged 10 medals and five merit awards from two international mathematics competitions held in Hongkong earlier this month.

The team won one gold, four silver and one bronze medals during the 2025 International Mathematics Invitational Hope Cup Peak Challenge, held August 6 and 7 at the Hong Kong Convention Center.

Vincent Benito Chan captured the gold medal and a silver medal in the Team Awards. David Gabriel Reaport won two silver medals, while Dylan Mattews Lim garnered a silver and a bronze medal.

Dr. Simon Chua, also from ZCHHS is the head of Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Phils. (MTG), which mentors the team.

The competition was participated by over 400 students from 10 countries including Brazil, Canada, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Macau, the Philippines, and host Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the ZCHHS math wizards also bagged two silver and two bronze medals and five Merit citations during the 2025 Hua Luo Geng International Gold Cup Math Invitational Tournament, held on August 4 and 5 at the HK Asia TV Station Auditorium and the East Kowloon Kai Tak Auditorium.

Team member Jerome Rance Ejedio took home a bronze medal and a Merit certificate.

The competition was paticipated by 624 students from 23 Chinese provinces and five autonomous regions including delegations from Taiwan, Thailand, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, and host Hong Kong.

The city government of Zamboanga under the administration of Mayor Khymer Olaso is very proud of the ZCHHS team for bringing honor and pride to the country and Zamboanga City in particular. (CMO-PIO)
