In the observance of Linggo ng Kabataan 2022, the Zamboanga City Local Youth Development Office under the City Social Welfare and Development Office together with the ZC Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and the ZC Local Youth Development Council spearheaded the Youth Summit 2022 last August 26 at the Juanito Bruno Gym at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) in Baliwasan.
National Youth Commission CEO and Chairperson Undersecretary Ronald Gian Carlo Cardema and Hon. Ducielle Marie Cardema graced the event.
Themed “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating A World For All Ages,” the day-long youth-led activity
Was actively participated by SK Officials, LYDC members, youth organizations and youth-serving organizations (YORP) and other young leaders coming from different youth groups, sectors, schools and barangays.
The event was aimed to tackle and discuss youth issues, conceptualize creative ideas, and identify fundamental decisions that will guide and direct them to effectively support youth development programs.
The 25 YORPs were given the space for their individual booth and opportunity to present a two-minute video presentation that showcased their organization’s mandates, program and services for the adolescents; major accomplishments and best practices in the realization of the rights of the young people.
The motivational and inspirational youth speakers at the conference were Emee Lei Albano- Valdehuesa, Consultant-ADAP, UNICEF Philippines; Allen Jay A. Bejerano, Teacher, San Roque Elementary School; Abmel I. Immid, Project Officer- Sugpat Program, Ateneo de Zamboanga University; Dr. Ahmadjan H. Musa who shared their personal and exemplary stories of success in the context of youth development work in local, national and international settings.
Also in attendance were Mayor John Dalipe, Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja, Dir. Raymond B. Domingo, NYC Zamboanga Area Office, Dr. Carla A. Ochoterena, WMSU President and City Councilor Cary John Pioc, LYDC Chair graced the special occasion and gave words of wisdom to the young people of Zamboanga City.
