Mayor Khymer Olaso Wednesday night, October 1, sends off a 19-man team for a humanitarian mission following the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu Province Tuesday.

Mayor Olaso said the move demonstrates solidarity and forms part of the city’s commitment to provide immediate aid to people impacted by calamity.

The team is composed of 9 personnel from CDRRMO, 8 from the City Health Office and 2 from the CSWDO. It will provide medical assistance, and help in the search and rescue as well as relief operations. It will head to Cebu by land via Dapitan City and is expected to arrive the quake hit province daytime tomorrow, Thursday.

The relief goods include 1,000 sacks of rice,1000 boxes of canned good, 1000 jerry cans with water.

Joining the mayor during the sendoff were City Administrator Percival Ramos, Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Mayor Celso Lobregat, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Dr. Elmeir Apolinario, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite and City Social Welfare and Development Office Socorro Rojas.
