Preparations for the local implementation of the national vaccination campaign to ramp up COVID-19 booster shots for eligible populations this July are underway.
This, as the Department of Health will launch the “PinasLakas” campaign on July 26, which aims to administer booster shots to at least 50% of eligible populations in the nation and increase vaccination rate among senior citizens in the first 100 days of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.
In their letter to Mayor John Dalipe, the Department of Health IX has requested for the support and assistance of the local government, through the City Health Office, for the identification of a vaccination site for the launching program, identification of eligible populations, invitation of members of key stakeholders, and dissemination of campaign information.
As of July 7, the City Government through the CHO has administered a total of 1,526, 913 doses of COVID-19 vaccines since the start of the vaccination rollout.
Ninety-six percent (96%) or 685,114 individuals out of the targeted 716,960 population have received the first dose while 94% or 674,603 individuals have received the second jab and are considered fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, 157,353 out of the total fully vaccinated individuals received their first booster dose and 3,843 immunocompromised and those belonging to A1 and A2 priority groups have received their second booster.
