Pregnant women turn up at the Puericulture Center Saturday, May 9, to participate in various activities in celebration of the 20th National Buntis Day organized by the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, Inc ( POGS)-Western Mindanao chapter in collaboration with the WMSU College of Medicine, Zamboanga Puericulture Maternity Lying in Hospital, City Health Office, and Operating Room Nurses of the Philippines.
Mayor John Dalipe has expressed his all out support to the POGS-WM in the conduct of the National Buntis Day, in line with his administration’s unrelenting commitment to health.
On Friday, March 8, POGS-WM officials Dr. Ferns Hassiman-Borromeo and Dr. Maryam-Lizbeth Lee-Sahijuan paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Dalipe to inform the latter about the activity and other programs intented to provide reproductive health care.
Pregnant women availed of various free services that included HPV and tetanus toxoid vaccinations, prenatal consultations, and HGB (hemoglobin) and HCT (hematocrit) determinations.
TIKTOK video presentations by WMSU College of Medicine students and the search for the Mrs. Buntis 2024 highlighted the event. The theme of this year’s 20th National Buntis Day is “Nurturing Health and Happiness for Future Generations.”
The celebration of National Buntis Day is based on Proclamation No. 569, series of 2004 to recognize the courage and dedication of pregnant women as well as to promote health pregnancy practices.
