ZC advances to final judging of 2023 Most Biz Friendly LGU Search

The City Government of Zamboanga advances to the final judging of the 2023 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit Awards, an annual competition organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

Mayor John Dalipe made this announcement during the flag raising ceremony in City Hall Monday where he also thanked 2 other organizations for recognizing the city’s hard work and accomplishments.

In a letter addressed to Mayor John Dalipe, Annalyn de Ocampo of the PCCI said the city will advance to the final judging for the competition which entails the presentation of significant initiatives introduced by the local government unit to address challegnes confronted to increase business operations within the locality.

The presentation and interview and the announcement and consequently the conferment of awards are set in October during the PCCI’s 49th Business Conference in Manila.

The city government was nominated for the award by the Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce led by Atty. Carl Rubio and the Southern Philippines Deep Sea Fishing Association Inc. (SOPHIL) led by President Engr. Julius Daniel last August 2.

Meanwhile, the recognitions that the mayor referred to include the conferment of the Emergency/ Disaster Management Excellence Award by the Manila Times under the Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities and the mayor’s inclusion among the Top Performing City Mayors and District Representatives of the Philippines in the “Boses ng Bayan” survey of the RP Mission and Development Foundation, Inc.

District II Congressman and Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe anked third in the list of Congressional Representatives in the same survey.

“As I start my 39th year, I realize that we have truly a lot to be thankful for. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my beloved city as mayor, and I am truly blessed to be working with all of you who comprise a very capable and competent team to help accomplish my goal in serving our constituents and embarking on our agenda for change,” Mayor Dalipe, who celebrated his birthday last Saturday, Sept. 16, declared.

During the flag raising ceremony, city government employees spearheaded by the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) under Roderico Jose Lucero surprised the mayor with a birthday cake and well-wishes.  

“Gracias a Dios, mi familia, di aton maga compoblanos y mi ciudad por el oportunidad para sirvi con ustedes. Continua kita man ayudahan lleva el deseo de progreso na un realidad,” the young mayor added. (Sheila Covarrubias)
