Zambo City joins 3rd NSED Sept. 8

Zamboanga City will join the 3rd National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at 9am Thursday, September 8, 2022 in 3 identified sites.

Facilitated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the NSED is aimed test the institutional capacities and individual awareness relative to earthquake preparedness and response while observing the minimum public health standards (MPHS).

The 3 identified pilot sites for the in-person drill are the Zamboanga Doctor’s Hospital, Inc.; Cristino M. Paragas Memorial Community Hospital in barangay Quiniput and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) main campus.

The nationwide activity is based on Memorandum No. 132, series 2022 entitled Participation to the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake drill 2022 issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRM).

The memorandum enjoins all schools and offices across all levels of the Department of Education to participate in the 2022 3rd quarter NSED and practice “duck, cover and hold” procedure.

The NSED will involve a simulated earthquake incident, emergency response from the CDRRMO and other emergency response agencies and group/individual evacuation in the identified sites as well as some government and non-government agencies and other participating sectors.
