The City Tourism Office reminds tourism establishments to continue observing the minimum public health standards (MPHS) and safety protocols even as Zamboanga City is already placed under Alert Level 1 starting March 1st.
City Tourism Officer Sarita Sebastian last Monday said she met with members of the accredited Tourism establishments and Hotel and Restaurant Association of Zamboanga (HRAZ) to emphasize the need to strictly comply the minimum health standards. “In fact, ya man meeting yo con el miembros del maga accredited tourism enterprises juntu con el Hotel and Restaurant Association of Zamboanga donde ya man remind kita kanila maskin Level 1 kita, necessita pa siempre compli, necessita pa siempre observa el minimum health and safety protocol,” Sebastian said during last Monday’s virtual press briefer.
The city official has also expressed optimism that the local tourism industry will take off anew after two years of limited to no operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Events organizers are still required to inform and register with the local tourism office the conduct of any social gathering/MICE event through https://forms.gle/25mzm1ehfxmkzkbw9. Guest list must likewise be submitted through the same form.
All events shall be at 100% capacity with fully-vaccinated participants/guests. While children are now allowed to participate in social gatherings, they must be accompanied by their fully-vaccinated parents/guardians.
As for Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited tourism establishments such has beaches and resorts, Sebastian calls for cooperation especially from concerned barangay officials in ensuring minimum health and safety protocols are complied with. “We had a meeting with the barangay officials from some beaches that are being run by the barangay itself and we really sought their assistance.
