Mayor John Dalipe and 5 th Special Action Battalion (5SAB) Commander PLTCOL Joseph Bagsao explore possibilities for strengthened collaboration to ensure safety and security in Zamboanga City.

PLTCol Bagsao and staff paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Dalipe in City Hall Wednesday, March 20 and assured his battalion’s steadfast commitment to provide quality service in combating terrorism, insurgency and lawless elements, in its area of operation.

Mayor Dalipe for his part, vowed to remain unyielding in ensuring security and public safety by continuously providing logistical support to the security sector.

The 5 th Special Action Battalion is under the PNP-Special Action Force or SAF, the elite unit of the police. It was created on January 9, 2010 and became fully operational on December 2010. It is tasked to conduct counterinsurgency and
counterterrorist operations, search and rescue operations, police community relations and support to local police operation. (Sheila Covarrubias)
