The Social Security System (SSS) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new branch at CityMall in Tetuan, last July 15 with SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Macasaet gracing the event.
The inauguration of the new branch coincided with the SSS Nationwide Registration Day and formed part of the agency’s intensified campaign to expand its membership and enhance enhance service delivery.
In his message, Macasaet highlighted the strategic decision to open branches in malls. “By placing our branches in malls, we can save ₱70,080 thousand per month,” Macasaet explained.
“We avoid costs associated with rent, parking, generators, and security, as the mall provides these services,” Macasaet said, as he expressed his gratitude to the CityMall management for the opportunity to help the agency save significant funds.
The savings, he said, would be redirected to enhance services for SSS members, including the introduction of Starlink technology to ensure fast and reliable internet in remote branches, an initiative that is already benefiting areas like Jolo, Tawi-Tawi, and Basilan, where internet access is limited.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Mayor John Dalipe, District 2 Representative Congressman Mannix Dalipe, District 1 Representative Khymer Olaso, and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja for their unwavering support.
Mayor Dalipe, represented by City Administrator Atty. Wendell Sotto welcomed the opening of the new SSS branch saying opens the door to opportunities for every resident of the city.
“Progress is not measured solely by buildings or paperwork but by the impact we create, the lives we uplift, the dreams we nurture, and the future we secure.”
Meanwhile, the SSS Nationwide Registration Day targets the registration of 67,000 new members by September as it forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to encourage all working Filipinos to join SSS and secure access to social security benefits.
To facilitate the registration process, SSS has set up e-services booths in partner malls and other high-traffic areas. These include CityMall Tetuan, Gaisano Grand Mall Ipil, Gaisano Capital Pagadian and CityMall Dipolog. (Albertora Paghubasan/ Marlyn Orquijo- ZPPSU Interns) (photo credits: Miljohn Mancao)
