Celebrating and honoring all women, the local government kicked off Tuesday, March 8, the National Women’s Month Celebration 2022 with the Zamboanga Music Runvolution.
Spearheaded by the Special Events Team and the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), the Zamboanga Music Runvolution began with an opening program at the Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-Abong Park.
Assembly time was 3 PM for preliminaries and warm-ups, while the Runvolution gun started at 4 PM.
The run will culminated at the Butterfly Garden for the awarding of winners and closing program.
The event route had seven stations featuring different music/dance genres – rock, hiphop, retro, k-pop, latin, p-pop, and tiktok. The five best dancers per station will receive cash prizes.
The Runvolution event was open to fully vaccinated / boosted participants only – participants are required to present their vaccination cards upon registration. Participants are likewise encouraged to wear purple and to always adhere to minimum health standards.
The Runvolution is part of the National Women’s Month and the International Women’s Day celebrations of the local government, which aims to advocate for gender sensitivity, inclusivity, equality, and empowerment among communities in Zamboanga City.
This year’s Women’s Month has the theme of “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, which is anchored on the 5-year theme (2017-2022) “We Make Change Work For Women”.
The month-long celebration will also include an Anti-VAWC Forum with ZABIDA on March 24, Women’s Summit 2022 from March 28-29, and Connected Women: Economic Resiliency on March 31. (Jasmine Mohammadsali)
