Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) Undersecretary Jose A. Torres Jr., pay a courtesy visit to Mayor Khymer Olaso, Monday morning, August 18 in City Hall to seek support in strengthening efforts to protect the welfare of media practitioners in Zamboanga City.
During the meeting, Mayor Olaso expressed full support to upholding the rights of journalists, broadcasters and other members of the media as they continue to disseminate accurate information to the Zamboangueños. He stressed that in this age of disinformation, reporting must remain anchored on truth, fidelity and decency.
Usec. Torres’ visit was on the sidelines of the conduct of the Media Orientation on the Bangsamoro Peace Process, Philippine Amnesty, the Bangsamoro Sectoral Code and Media Safety Training in the city, providing an opportunity to engage local leadership in advancing media security initiatives.
The PTFoMS, created under the Administrative Order No. 1, is a government body tasked to develop and implement policies ensuring a safe environment for media practitioners and protecting press freedom in the country. (Arvin Midel) (photo credits: Kathy Wee Sit)
