Mayor Khymer Olaso Monday morning, May 11, urged city government employees to uphold perseverance, discipline, and integrity in public service as he recognized civil service passers and employees who represented Zamboanga City in international leadership programs during the regular flag-raising ceremony at City Hall.

In his message, Olaso emphasized that hard work, dedication, and perseverance are essential in strengthening public trust and improving government service delivery. He cited the recent accomplishments of employees who passed the March 2026 Civil Service Examination and those who participated in leadership programs abroad.

During the recognition led by the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO), the mayor commended an employee from the City Engineer’s Office for bringing honor to the city after participating in the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellowship Program in the United States alongside fellow city government alumni delegates.

Olaso also encouraged employees to continue pursuing self-improvement and education, reminding those who failed previous examinations not to lose hope and instead keep striving for future opportunities. He stressed that perseverance and discipline remain important qualities in delivering responsive and effective public service.

As part of the ceremony, employees also joined ASEAN-related observances, including the playing of a regional theme song promoting unity, cooperation, and shared progress among Southeast Asian nations.

Meanwhile, the CHRMO reminded city employees to observe the “Be WISE” social media campaign, which promotes responsible online behavior, professionalism, transparency, and integrity among public servants.

Also present during the ceremony were Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Mayor Celso Lobregat, City Administrator Percival Ramos, City Council Secretary Atty. Kenneth Beldua, department heads, and employees of the local government. (Arvin Midel) (photo credits: Jen Casido)
