Mayor Khymer Olaso over the weekend convened department heads and personnel to discuss proposed plans to revitalize Paseo del Mar, a major tourist attraction in the city.
As part of Olaso’s comprehensive urban development efforts, the proposals include the restoration of the musically gyrating dancing fountain, improvements of Phase 1 area stalls, the revival of the marine sanctuary, and the renovation of Centro Latino and the lighting fixtures in the comfort rooms, playground, marine park catwalk and other facilities. Construction of new facilities are also on the drawing board.
Mayor Olaso, City Administrator Percival Ramos and Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Mayor Celso Lobregat cited the need for better collaboration to align the projects with the city’s vision for growth while keeping Paseo del Mar’s cultural value intact.
Consultations will be done and the related ordinances will be reviewed before finalizing all the plans for Paseo Del Mar.
These plans aim to further enhance Paseo del Mar’s role as a center for recreation, tourism and cultural activities in Zamboanga City.
Meanwhile, in another meeting, the mayor together with City Administrator Percival Ramos, Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Mayor, Celso Lobregat and concerned city departments and personnel discussed measures how to further improve the operation of night markets which are presently covered by an existing ordinance.
