Mayor Khymer Olaso promoted literacy and a culture of reading among young learners as he read the story “El Gato, El Gallo y El Raton Chirozo” to pupils of Camp Susana Elementary School in Barangay La Paz Friday afternoon, June 5, during the school’s Brigada Eskwela 2026 activities.

Serving as a reading ambassador, Mayor Olaso encouraged pupils to develop a love for reading and pursue academic excellence, emphasizing the role of literacy in shaping future opportunities and lifelong learning.

The storytelling session formed part of the school’s Brigada Eskwela observance, which brought together teachers, parents, community volunteers, and local officials in preparation for the opening of School Year 2026-2027.

In recognition of his support for education initiatives, Camp Susana Elementary School presented Olaso with a certificate of appreciation during the program.

The mayor also expressed his commitment to exploring possible assistance for the school, including the construction of a covered court and the implementation of agricultural support programs that couls benefit parents engaged in farming.

This year’s Brigada Eskwela carries the theme, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa Para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” underscoring the importance of community participation in creating safe, conducive, and learner-friendly school environments.

School Principal Joey Del Mundo, Barangay Kagawad Darwin Torres, faculty members, parents, and other stakeholders attended the activity and expressed appreciation for the mayor’s continuing support of programs that promote education and student development.
