Mayor Khymer Olaso Thursday noon personally responds and visits the Mega Fishing shipyard in Barangay Cawit following a tragic incident that claimed the lives of four crew members.

Joining the mayor during the inspection were City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite, personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard-Cawit, Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), sanitary inspectors, and barangay officials of Cawit.

Mayor Olaso directed Dr. Miravite to spearhead a Joint Investigating Team to conduct a thorough probe into the incident and determine whether safety and health protocols were properly observed.

The mayor stressed that the city government will not tolerate negligence and warned that he will not hesitate to recommend the issuance of a cease and desist order against company owners should the investigation uncover violations of safety regulations and protocols.
