Mayor Khymer Olaso on Monday, September 29 directed the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) to increase efforts to arrest and prosecute criminals who commit robbery and other street crimes in the city’s business district.

In his message during the flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds, Mayor Olaso ordered City Police Director Col. Fidel Fortaleza to immediately identify and arrest by Friday, October 3, the snatcher who pointed a knife at his student-victim, demanding money at the vicinity of Plaza Pershing.

Olaso said law enforcers should tighten the fight against snatchers including cable wire and water-meter thieves, and ensure law and order.

Meanwhile, the city government flag ceremony also featured announcements related to activities for the Pink October celebration, the launching of the School-based Immunization Campaign on October 1, the Hermosa Festival activities organized by the Office of the City Veterinarian, launching of color-coded bins for waste segregation, and observance of Filipino Elderly Week starting Oct. 1, among others.
