Zamboanga City took pride in Rodelyn Perez after he captured the Philippine Boxing Federation Youth Lightweight championship title following a hard-fought bout against boxing legend Manny Pacqiao’s son Eman, held in Putatan, Muntinlipa Sunday evening, June 21.

Mayor Khymer Olaso Monday, June 22 welcomed and commended Perez for bringing honor to the city, saying the young boxer’s victory reflects the discipline, perseverance, and talent of Zamboangueño athletes competing on the national stage. He also expressed confidence that Perez will continue to rise in the sport and serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes.

In the championship match, Perez secured a majority decision victory over Eman Pacquiao, finishing with judges’ scores of 75-75, 76-73, and 75-74. The bout proved intense as Perez managed to score three knockdowns against his opponent, ultimately swinging the fight in his favor.

Perez, 24, hails from Barangay Mangusu, Zamboanga City, and balances his boxing career with work aa a carpenter while also pursuing his studies as a second-year college student at Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU).

He was accompanied by his coach Bro Bro Languido, promoter Jong-Jong Navarro, as well as his family and supporters whose immense support contributed to his championship title.
