A total of nine (9) inspection teams have been deployed by the City Engineer’s Office to check the structural integrity of all government buildings and structures following the intensity 4 earthquake that hit Zamboanga City early Monday morning, June 8.

The teams, which are under the supervision of City Engineer Chris Navarro as Building Official, are tasked to conduct rapid damage assessment in all city government offices, school buildings and other structures including buildings of national government agencies.

The deployment of the inspection teams is based on the directive of Mayor Khymer Olaso, to ensure public safety and protection.

Olaso earlier also ordered the suspension of classes at all levels, (both public and private schools), including work in all local and national government agencies in the city due to earthquake and active tsunami alert.

Before deployment earlier today, the inspection teams sought divine intervention for safety and protection as well. (Sheila Covarrubias) (photo credits: Engr. Joy Lee/ CEO)
