Effective Thursday, September 15, 2022, garbage collection within the Central Business District will be from 6pm to 6am only.
This, as Mayor John Dalipe has ordered the strict implementation of the Solid Waste Management Program (SWMP) in the city.
Based on the mayor’s directive, garbage must now be segregated, meaning bio-degradable items (nabubulok) must be separated from the non-biodegradable (di nabubulok).
Also, setting out of solid waste for collection and disposal will start from 6pm to 8pm only. “The no segregating/ no collection policy will be strictly implemented,” the mayor said.
The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) has sent out letters to all establishments within the CBD to inform the public about the new policy.
Since August this year, the OCENR has been conducting series of orientation on Solid Waste Management for all business establishment operators and owners in the barangays pursuant to pursuant to Executive Order No. JD 2022-008 (An order mandating all Establishments in the City of Zamboanga to Secure a Solid Waste Management Certificate (SWMC).

The Orientations are scheduled from August 2 to September 30, 2022 (Tuesdays thru Fridays).
