Mayor John Dalipe said his administration together with Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe and the Department of Transportation is now in the process of fulfilling Zamboangueños’ dream of a world-class international airport.
In his State of the City Address on Monday, Feb. 26, Dalipe said the Land Bank of the Philippines recently appraised 59% of the lots or 231 out of 431 lots for the New Zamboanga International Airport in Mercedes-Zambowood area.
He said appraisal and land acquisition are two of the most challenging parts of the process.
“Desa fiente y largo el proseso del appraisal y acquisicion del lote, por medio del coordinacion del de ustedes govierno local con el oficina del de aton Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe, y el Department of Budget and Management, YA ALOCA EL CANTIDAD DE DOS BILION DE PESOS PARA SOLAMENTE DEL ZIA LOT ACQUISITION,” Dalipe said, adding that 123 lots amounting to P567.5 million had already been paid.
“El promesa del administracion Dalipe amo que hay hace pronto el acquisicion y pagada del maga propriedad dentro del New Zamboanga International Airport para puede ya principya el construccion del nuevo airport,” he said.
Likewise, he said night flights have already been restored at the present international airport after the city government had made consistent follow-up with DOTr for the immediate activation of the runway night lights, thus allowing the resumption of night flights.
Meanwhile, Dalipe said Zamboanga City is undoubtedly still the commerce hub and economic engine of Region IX and BaSulTa, for which he aims to restore the city’ss prominence in Mindanao.
His top priority is facilitating effortless travel and connectivity between destinations.
The flyover at MCLL Highway and Governor Camins Avenue is on track to finish by July 31, 2024.
