Barangay Mariki, one of the areas severely affected by the 2013 Zamboanga siege, is now fully energized.
This, as Mayor John Dalipe together with Vice Mayor Josephin Pareja and other city and national government officials led the Light Switch-on Ceremony in barangay Mariki Friday night, September 9, 2022 in commemoration of the 9th year since the siege.
The energization project is one of the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) projects being implemented by the national government following the 2013 siege.
The project covers the Rehabilitation/ Construction of Distribution lines damaged by the siege, with a cost of P16.372 million. It started Sept. 10, 2019 and was completed last May 29, 2021.
Meanwhile, Dalipe and Pareja together with other officials were also briefed by the National Housing Authority (NHA) and City Land Housing and Management Division (HLMD), secretariat of the Local Inter-Agency Committee (LIAC) on the progress of the Ayer Village Subdivision Phase III in Sta. Barbara, another project under Z3R.
The project costs P62.813 million covering an area of 11, 575 square meters. It involves 109 residential units intended for the 109 families whose houses were burned during the armed conflict and were not accommodated in other NHA housing projects.
Ayer Village Subdivision Phase III started August 27, 2021 and is expected to be completed on January 26, 2023. Earlier last Friday, Dalipe also led a simple yet fitting program marking the Day of Remembrance honoring the fallen and living heroes of the siege. Specifically honored were the 38 individuals – 20 military forces, 5 policemen and 13 civilians who were killed during the 2013 armed conflict perpetrated by forces loyal to Nur Misuari.
