To increase meaningful adolescents’ participation in disaster risk reduction (DRR), the Local Youth Development Office under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in partnership with Pag-asa Youth Association Federation Inc. of Zamboanga City recently conducted a one-day event dubbed: “Engaging Youth in Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Building” held at local restaurant.
The activity aimed to educate 50 PYAP leaders and members on youth-centered approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction.
Likewise, the session intended to discuss the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Framework anchored on R.A 2010 & R.A 10121; provide practical disaster preparedness tips during natural, man-made and hazards setting; provide basic information on Child Protection in Emergencies & Psychosocial support and provide basic emergency first aids.
Moreover, the gathering was an opportunity for the PYAP Federation and District Officers to present their major accomplishments on youth programs implemented in their respective barangays.
