Lorenzana cites Beng’s security efforts

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has cited Mayor Beng Climaco for her active support and participation in the government’s efforts towards a peaceful and prosperous Mindanao through the conduct of the Executive Course on Security, Peace and Development (ECSPD) in the Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-tawi and Zamnboanga Peninsula.

In a letter to Mayor Climaco, Lorenzana extended his appreciation to the chief executive stating that the latter’s “gesture of support marks the heightening of our collaborative undertaking which we hope will bear tangible results in the future.”

The ECSPD, jointly organized by the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last July 18-20 and August 1-3 in the city.

 

The three-day training course, primarily intended to enhance the leadership capacity of the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) in Mindanao while at the same time, strengthening their collaboration with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Lorenzana said the activity also “erves as a platform to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of various strategies on peace, security, and development that may lead to the acceleration of economic activity in their respective localities and collective in the whole of Mindanao”.

“Your contribution to the successful conduct of the ECSPD in BASULTA and Zamboanga Peninsula region is proof of your strong support to the government’s efforts towards peaceful and prosperous Mindanao,” he said. (Sheila Covarrubias)
