Flashflood, fire victims get cash aid from city

The City Government Thursday afternoon released almost P400, 000 as financial assistance to 100 families affected by different flashflood and fire incidents that hit their barangays the past 3 months.

Mayor Beng Climaco led the distribution of the cash assistance in City Hall Thursday afternoon in line with the City Government’s assistance to families in crisis situations.

Of the total 100 family beneficiaries, 24 were hit by fire and flashfloods in barangays Patalon, Putik and Guiwan August 16, September 13 and October 14; 44 were hit by flashfloods in Sta. Maria last Sept. 13 and 32 were from Tetuan and Tugbungan hit by flash flood and fire Sept. 13 and 21.

The grant of the financial assistance was based on the recommendations of the City Social Welfare and Development Office which conducted proper assessment and validation of the displaced families.

The amount of the cash aid depends on the extent of damage on houses sustained by the concerned families as mandated under a resolution of the City disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The cash assistance was on top of the relief assistance earlier provided by the City Government.

Mayor Climaco was assisted by personnel from the City Treasurer’s Office and CSWDO during the distribution of the assistance. (Sheila Covarrubias)
