Additional 4 barangays in the city were declared cleared of drugs Monday, November 21, bringing the total number of drug-cleared and unaffected barangays in the City.
Barangays Mangusu, Tumitu, Taguiti and Panubigan were declared drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing (ROCBDC) following a thorough deliberation Monday at the City Hall conference room.
The 4 barangays, represented by their officials successfully presented their respective anti-illegal drugs campaign to the committee, along with documentary evidence on both past and ongoing intervention programs to rehabilitate identified persons who use drugs (PWUDs) in their area of responsibility.
The 4 barangays join 16 others in the city that have been declared drug-cleared in recent years and months. One other barangay has been declared as unaffected.
The 17 drug-cleared and unaffected barangays are the following: Licomo, Limaong, Sibulao, Tictapul, Tigbalabag, Calabasa, Cacao, Lapakan, Tolosa, Landang Laum, Lanzones, Pangapuyan (unaffected), Pasilmanta, Lumayang, Capisan, Dulian and Pamucutan.
The deliberation was spearhead by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 9 Director Emerson Margate with the presence of Mayor John Dalipe, who stressed the importance of clearing barangays of the menace in line with his administration war against illegal drugs.
Held at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region IX – Zamboanga City Office, yesterday’s deliberation was spearheaded by PDEA regional director and ROCBDC chairperson Emerson Margate. The ROCBDC is composed of the regional directors/ representatives of the Department of Interior and Local GovernmenT (DILG), PDEA, Regional Police Office 9, and the Department of Health.
