DOT names ZC as ZamPen’s top travel destination; Sta. Cruz Isle as leading tourist spot

Zamboanga City has been named as Zamboanga Peninsula’s top travel destination for both domestic and foreign tourists for the year 2024.

At the same time, the city’s premiere tourist attraction, the Sta. Cruz Island has been recognized as one of the top tourist attractions in the region last year.

Personnel from the DOT-9 representing Regional Director Dara May Cataluña presented the certificates to City Tourism Officer Sarita Sebastian Monday, January 13, as they extended their warmest congratulations to the city government of Zamboanga under the administration of Mayor John Dalipe.

The certificate, signed by Director Cataluña said Zamboanga City turned out to be the “most visited city by domestic and foreign travelers by achieving the highest tourist inflow data from among the cities in the Zamboanga Peninsula region submitted from January to December 2023.” It also recognized “the exemplary efforts of the city in promoting tourism and providing exceptional experiences to domestic and foreign travelers.”

Meanwhile, the DOT said the recognition of the Sta. Cruz Island as one of the Top Tourist Attractions in Zamboanga Peninsula “celebrates its outstanding contribution to tourism, exceptional visitor experience and role in promoting local culture, heritage and natural beauty.”

Mayor John Dalipe has expressed pride and honor for the latest milestone obtained by the city through the city tourism office. He lauded the efforts of the tourism office led by Sarita Sebastian that led to the recognition. (CMO-PIO) (details and photos: City Tourism Office)
