Women and men from all sectors in the city convened at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga Monday, March 9 to celebrate “Dia de las Mujeres” in line with observance of Women’s Month.

Aimed to celebrate women’s success and to make gender equality a reality, the activity was highlighted by talks by two inspiring wmen: Juliet Tigo, the president of the Federation of Zamboanga City Civil Society Organization and Janelle Ensamtan, an active student leader who became the first chairperson of the Council of the Greek of Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) and an awardee of the Five Outstanding Zamboangueno Young Leaders or FOZYL.

Over 600 participants from all over the city trooped to the activity area of the KCC Mall for the short but inspiring session organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit under the Office of the City Mayor.

Present during the event were Councilors Josephine Pareja, John Dalipe and El King Omaga, who each shared insights on the observance of women’s day urging everyone to take proactive steps for women to inspire other women.

Aside from the inspiring messages, the participants also received freebies courtesy of KCC Mall de Zamboanga, Virginia Foods and Skintech Advance Inc. (GAD Unit PR)
