Zamboanga City will commemorate the 39th death anniversary of Mayor Cesar Climaco with simple yet meaningful program that will start Monday, Nov. 13 at 7pm with the candle lighting ceremony at the assassination rite in Gov. Alvarez St.
The main program on Tuesday, November 14 will commence with the commemorative mass at 7am at the Holy Trinity Parish in Pasonanca to be followed immediately by the wreath laying and program at the Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-abong, Pasonanca.
City officials led by Mayor John Dalipe, the Climaco family and the JCI Zamboanga will lead the activities.
Mayor Cesar Cortez Climaco also known as CCC, was shot dead while rushing to the scene of a fire incident in downtown Zamboanga City last November 14, 1984.
The observance of Dia de Cesar is pursuant to a City Ordinance.
CCC served as mayor of Zamboanga City for 11 years and non-consecutive terms. He also served as the 1951 and 1953 President of JCI Zamboanga. (Sheila Covarrubias)
