Mayor John Dalipe Tuesday, July 2, convenes the Task Force La Niña and presides the body’s first meeting to discuss the local government’s readiness and preparations for the onset of La Niña, as the city starts to experience a significant increase in rainfalls.
Rodel Inclan, officer-in-charge of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) – Zamboanga City Station, gave a comprehensive discussion on the climate outlook in the city for the remainder of the year.
Task force members were apprised on the salient points of the city’s Contingency Plan for Flood for 2022-2025.
In addition, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ZCDRRMO) La Niña Preparedness and Response Manual for Fiscal Year 2024-2027 was presented for the body’s comments and approval.
The Task Force La Niña, created pursuant to Executive Order No. 2024-048 on June 19, comprises of the various city departments and key national government offices, with Dalipe sitting as chairperson. (Claudine Uniana)
