Dalipe brothers vow to pursue airport project

Mayor John Dalipe Monday convened concerned departments and agencies to get updates on the Zamboanga International Airport project.

District II Congressman Mannix Dalipe, who initiated the inclusion of the initial P200M funding in the 2019 General Appropriations Act and another P800M in the 2020 GAA to jumpstart the project, also attended the meeting.

Based on the briefing, appraisal of private lots that will be affected by the project in Mercedes is ongoing. Out of the 44 lots appraised by the Land Bank of the Philippines, 10 lots amounting to P152M are currently subjects of negotiation.

Mayor Dalipe and Cong. Dalipe vowed to work closely together to have the project implemented the soonest possible time and to subsequently spur development and progress in Zamboanga City.

Cong. Dalipe committed to work harder in Congress for the allocation of additional funds in the next General Appropriations Act to ensure that the project moves further forward in the coming months.

Present during the meeting were representatives from the City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Assessor’s Office, City Accounting Office, City Legal Office, Zamboanga International Airport and the barangay chairmen of Mercedes, Zambowood, Talabaan and the mayor’s executive assistants.
