The City Government of Zamboanga had distributed Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) books to day care centers in the east and west coasts as part of Climaco adminsitration’s Security, Health and Education (SHE) program.

A total of 55,555 books were procured through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) at a purchase price of PhP 10M and released to field offices for distribution to preschoolers.

The books were turned over last March 23, 2022 to Field Office 5 (Culianan District), Field Office 6 (Curuan District) and Field Office 7 (Vitali District) and on March 24, 2022 to  Field Office 1 (Ayala District), Field Office 2 (Sta. Barbara District), Field Office 3 (Sta. Maria District) and Field Office 4 (Tetuan District).

Day Care Officer-Designate Leah May Joy Bautista-Dua gave parents an overview of the books while Assistant City Social Welfare and Development Officer Uldarico Fabian conducted the orientation after the turnover ceremony.

On March 14, a week prior to the distribution, author and registered social worker Raffy Magtoto Gamad gave an orientation to all Child Development Workers (CDWs) on how to use the books.

The activity books are intended to complement and supplement ECCD domains of development particularly in basic reading, writing and counting. (Claudine Uniana)
