Mayor Khymer Olaso reiterated the importance of privacy awareness and accountability compliance among city government employees during a seminar held at the Grand Astoria Hotel Wednesday, May 13.
Organized by the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO), the two-day activity, which runs until Thursday, May 14 gathered city government personnel in batches of 50 participants from various departments and offices.
The seminar aims to strengthen employees’ understanding of lawful data processing, confidentiality, and accountability measures in line with government standards.
Anchored on Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012, the seminar highlighted the rights of individuals over their personal information and the obligations of government workers in safeguarding records and maintaining public trust. Discussions also covered data protection principles, privacy policies, and proper management of official documents and digital information.
The chief executive underscored that adherence to privacy regulations reflects professionalism and integrity in public service, stressing that protecting personal information remains essential in ensuring efficient, transparent, and accountable governance.
