City sponsors 28th MINBIZCON

Zamboanga City through various entrepreneurs participated in the 28th Mindanao Business Conference held at the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City from September 12- 14.

Themed “Mindanao: the Emerging Investment Destination”, the Minbizcon is an annual event hosted by one of the business chambets in Mindanao. This year, the host is the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan headed by President Reggie Punongbayan.

As a sponsor, the City Government of Zamboanga had a booth at the venue and a full page ad in the 2018 Minbizcon souvenir program.

The city likewise participated in the other activities lined up for the delegates to include the

Philippine Franchising seminar, plenary sessions on the business climate in Mindanao, and opportunities to meet and greet delegates from all over Mindanao and the Philippines.

Punongbayan emphasized in her message to the participants during the opening program that Mindanao is no longer the land of dreams but it is now a land for the fulfillment of dreams. She graciously welcomed the participation of the Zamboanga delegation.

The city gifted Punongbayan with the I Love ZC doll as a token of appreciation.

Also present during the event and guest speaker was Department of Tourism Region – Regional Director and concurrent Assistant Secretary Myra Paz Abubakar, who represented DOT Secretary Bernadeth Puyat. Abubakar, proudly Zamboangueña, discussed about opportunities for tourism expansion in Mindanao and constantly mentioned Zamboanga City among other cities in Mindanao as a reference point.
