The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Zamboanga City turns over to the city government a check amounting to P608,337.60 representing the city’s share from the lotto charity fund for the first semester of the year.

The check was turned over by PCSO Acting Branch Manager Pilarcita Florentes to City Treasurer Romelita Candido through Mayor Khymer Olaso in the presence of Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Mayor Celso Lobregat Friday, October 3 at the City Mayor’s Office.

The amount represents the city’s 5% share from the 30% lotto charity fund allocated to local government units (LGUs) where lotto tickets are sold, covering the period from January to June 2025.

Mayor Olaso welcomed the remittance, noting its importance in augmenting the city’s revenues and funding programs that benefit the Zamboangueños. He also expressed gratitude to PCSO for its continued support and partnership with the local government.

Alongside the turnover, PCSO also highlighted its campaign for responsible gaming, reminding the public that lotto is a game of chance and should be played only by individuals 18 years old and above. The agency emphasized that players should balance gaming with other activities, treat it as an entertainment, avoid letting it interfere with daily responsibilities, and always set and stick to personal limits.

Mayor Olaso voiced his support for PCSO’s advocacy on responsible gaming, underscoring the importance of promoting safe and mindful play among Zamboangueños. (Arvin Midel) (photo credits: Kathy Wee Sit)
