City pursues the vision of a gender-responsive society

The city’s Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) and Technical Working Group (TWG) yesterday convened for its third regular meeting to monitor and review GAD-related accomplishments in the immediately preceding quarter as well as discuss upcoming GAD advocacy programs and activities.

GAD chief Wilfredo Aporongao presided the meeting with strong participation from the members coming from the various city departments, key regional offices, as well as barangay GAD focal persons.

Representatives from Colegio de la Ciudad de Zamboanga (CCG), the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ZCDRRMO), the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR), and the Housing and Land Management Division of the City Mayor’s Office took turns in presenting their accomplishments, activities and plans with comments and suggestions from the body.

The body also discussed plans for the city’s observance of Pink October. The month-long celebration shall feature a series of activities in support of breast cancer awareness such as Pink Fridays, CARE to Walk Campaign, and free breast screening and consultations for city government employees, persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), among others.
