The City Government Friday afternoon, April 5, kicks off its annual Sports Fitness and Recreation Program with a series of competitions espousing a work-life balance for better health and increased productivity.
Themed: “A healthy body and mind towards productive employees of the City Government of Zamboanga,” the program is a yearlong activity highlighted by sports events.
The opening program, led by Mayor John Dalipe, Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja and some members of the City Council, showcased talents of employees in 4 competitions: Ballroom dance, Zumba, Hip-hop, and the Search for Mr. and Ms. Fitness 2024.
Mayor Dalipe underscored the importance of sports and fitness recreation in the promotion of a healthy workforce, expressing belief that sports offers a sturdy platform for employees to practice discipline and maintain strong relationships among colleagues.
The event kicked off with the presentation of athletes, lighting of the urn of friendship, oath of sportsmanship, oath of coaches and officials, and the official declaration of the opening of the sports event by Mayor Dalipe.
City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano, whose office organizes the annual activity said the program aims to promote wellness and camaraderie among city employees, encouraging them to maintain a healthy lifestyle for better productivity and overall well-being.
