City intensifies road clearing campaign

The City Government under the leadership of Mayor John Dalipe intensifies road clearing operations pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 2022-085 of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Members of Task Force Ordinance under the City Administrator’s Office and Community Police Action Center (COMPAC) together with the Police Highway Patrol Group undertake clearing operations in the different barangays and downtown streets following coordination with concerned barangay officials.

The clearing operations include monitoring of violations of traffic laws and other similar rules and regulations. They are done daily including weekends and holidays.

Recall that Mayor Dalipe in 2023 issued Executive Order No. JD-089 providing for the procedures for road clearing operations and the creation of a validation team.

Under the EO, road clearing means the removal of illegal or unauthorized road obstructions along the road right-of-way, which encompasses the entire width of the road carriageway (including travel way for motor vehicles and road shoulders) and sidewalks.

Road obstructions are structures, materials, or activities within the road right-of-way that impede the free and clear passage of motor vehicles or pedestrians and/or pose danger or cause injury to motorists, pedestrians, or occupants of nearby structures. (Sheila Covarrubias)
