The City Government calls on the city’s riding public to support the ongoing campaign against overcharging trike drivers by reporting infractions to the Tricycle Adjudication Board (TAB) and filing formal complaints against errant trike drivers instead of ranting on social media.
“Ta invita kita el atencion del riding public de aton to report na Tricycle Adjudication Board as far as overcharging is concerned, rather than akel man post lang na Facebook,” City Administrator Atty. Wendel Sotto said during the press briefing yesterday afternoon.
He explained that TAB cannot act on complaints posted online as the office needs to observe due process prior to meting out penalties and fines as provided under City Ordinance No. 617.
Sotto likewise reaffired the local government’s firm commitment to protect the riding public, especially visitors and athletes who are in Zamboanga for the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletics Association (ZPRAA) Meet, against overcharging trike drivers.
To recall, the City Government deployed fifty (50) fare dispatchers to strategic areas in the city to avert opportunities for overcharging. These fare dispatchers are tasked to mediate between passengers and drivers in negotiating a reasonable fare rate in accordance with the revised fare matrix.
On this note, the city official also appealed to trike drivers and operators to be reasonable when charging their passengers.
“Ta apela kita con el maga tricycle drivers and operators especially during this time que ta man host el ciudad con el ZPRAA [Meet] 2024. Pabor no mas toma bentaja con el maga visita de aton, con el maga atleta, y con el maga vivientes tambien quien ta anda na grandstand o otro lugar onde ta conduci el maga juego,” Sotto appealed.
